About The Smell of Elephants...:

Teatr Figur of Krakow, Poland makes its US debut with two different shows featured in this year’s Revolutions Festival. (See also Crime and Punishment) Using puppetry, shadow theatre, object manipulation, and physical performance, this ensemble of actors, jugglers and social artists bring to life the story of two men from different worlds finding a way to connect in The Smell of Elephants after the Rain. Based on the Italo Calvino novel “Invisible Cities,” the play follows young traveler Marco Polo and venerable leader Kublai Khan as they abandon words and turn to music, puppetry, and poetic physical illustration to establish and understand their differences, similarities, and the indelible ties that bind all mankind.

About the Company

Teatr Figur Krakow is an internationally touring theatre ensemble based in Krakow, Poland. The company, founded in January 2007, premiered it’s first work in July, during the XX International Street Theatre Festival of Krakow. The international ensemble is comprised of actors, puppeteers, jugglers, and social artists. Their shows use a variety of theatrical expressions, including puppetry, shadow theatre, object manipulation and high physical performance. Teatr Figur is committed to producing entertaining, high-quality theatre for audiences of ALL ages.
