About Mariana Sadowska:

World-renowned singer/composer/performer Mariana Sadowska returns to the Revolutions International Theatre Festival for an evening of traditional folk music. The often mystical music she performs is passed to her directly from the voices and hearts of Eastern European villagers and folk singers. It is the music of ancient cultures that stand on the brink of extinction in the wave of fast paced globalization, media, and technology. Sadowska’s work serves to keep these cultures alive and heard. Her belief is that music is a dialog that exists between the singer and the listener. She has performed around the world and brings her hauntingly beautiful work to Albuquerque for a two-night engagement that has traditionally sold out every performance in her previous appearances in the Revolutions Festival.

“Sometimes a musician has such an inborn desire to communicate that her message naturally becomes universal...the responsibilities, protocol and tradition of whatever style she is working in just vanish; she replaces them with pure vitality. Such is the case with the Ukrainian singer Mariana Sadovska.”
Ben Ratliff, The New York Times
