After the overwhelming success of the National Poetry Slam Competition finals held in Albuquerque in August of 2005 in which Albuquerque’s home slam team took the gold, ABQ Slam (organizers of the Nationals in August) presents the Albuquerque Youth Poetry Slam-Off in collaboration with Tricklock’s Revolutions Festival 2006. Marking 10 years of collaborating to present cutting edge new work in Albuquerque, our city’s lead physical & poetic theatre company teams up with ABQ Slam once again to send New Mexico performers into the world to do us proud!

The Teen poets (age 13-19) who prevail in this one-night competition will be sent to compete at BRAVE NEW VOICES youth poetry slam tournament in New York City in April.

Opening the evening’s slam will be a kick-off poem by featured Chicago hip hop artist, playwright, & poet extraordinaire Idris Goodwin (featured below) . A night not to be missed!
