About ¡Gaytino!:

Universal themes of self-discovery, self identity and acceptance are at the heart of ¡Gaytino!, a hysterical narrative chronicling Guerrero’s life as a gay man and a Chicano in East LA in the ‘50s and New York City in the early 60s. Guerrero intertwines stories of his dad, the legendary father of Chicano music, Lalo Guerrero, and his treasured boyhood friendship with Carlos Almaraz, driving the piece through decades of Chicano history and the gay experience. With biting humor, sincere drama, and music drifting from Spanish to English,¡Gaytino! is a hilarious, touching and provocative evening not to be missed.

“A master story teller Guerrero takes us on a roller coaster ride through East Los Angeles in the 1950’s…experiencing life as a young gay Latino in this country…Guerrero keeps his audience laughing from start to finish, adds a touch of sadness, and a dollup of awareness…”
