Greek Row Tragedy
A new work by Mars Mráz

Greek Row Tragedy is an adaptation of The Bacchae, by Euripides in which Dionysos comes back as a crackbrain Russian choreographer and terrorizes a Fraternity House and lures the women of the Mu Nu Delta Sorority into his violent and sexual mystery/possession cult. It is a blending of physical theatre, modern dance and music that mixes Hip-Hop/R & B with the Dionysiac dissonance of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. The work was inspired in part by Mráz’s great-aunt’s experience dancing in the Ballets Russes, and stories of Vaslav Nijinsky and Igor Stravinsky as well as Tricklock’s current location on Greek Row at the University of New Mexico.

Polonaise in A-flat

Kate Schroeder, Erin Phillips, and Mars Mráz are developing a new project entitled Polonaise in A-flat. Inspired by the lyricism and absurdism of playwrights such as Mac Wellman, Samuel Beckett, and Eugene Ionesco as well as recent travels and workshops in Germany, Poland, and Czech Republic, Polonaise in A-flat will glimpse into the anxieties, desires, and fears of two Polish women during the siege of Warsaw in 1939. The collaboration will explore the relationship and creation process between actor and playwright in hopes of discovering new methods of generating original work.
