Mark Chavez has studied, practiced, and taught improvisational theatre for twelve years. He is an associate member of Albuquerque’s Tricklock Company (as recently seen in American Theatre Magazine) and co-founder with Shenoah Allen of the internationally acclaimed, and award winning Pajama Men, winners of Best Double Act the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Mark studied with Roosevelt University’s Kestutis Nakas, the Staniewski Center for Theatre Practices of Gardzience, Poland, studied voice Mariana Sadowska of Evoé Productions of the Ukraine, and worked extensively under screenwriter and television’s Laugh-In creator, Digby Wolfe. He also holds a BA from the University of New Mexico where he studied astrophysics, literature, creative writing, and theatre. Along with Allen, Chavez has taught their technique of creating theatre through improvisation all over Canada and the US, including The Second City Chicago.
With his work The Pajama Men, Mark has appeared at the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival, the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, the Second City in both Toronto and Chicago, as well as showcases for the FOX and NBC television networks in New York City, and Los Angeles. Currently, the Pajama Men are on tour with their show’s Stop Not Going, and Versus vs. Versus and are working on their new television pilot Hotel Strangehaven. Mark has directed, written, and performed original work in over 30 cities across the United States, Canada, The UK, Ireland, and Australia. |
