Joe Peracchio (Co-Artistic Director) has been an actor, writer, and director, with Tricklock Company since 1994. He is a co-founder of the resident Tricklock Company, and has been Artistic Director of the company since 1997. His creation of Tricklock’s Reptilian Lounge: Late Night Cabaret in 1996 , The Manoa Project: Teen Playwriting & Ensemble Apprenticeship Program in 2003, & the acclaimed Revolutions International Theatre Festival in 2001 has produced, promoted, and encouraged the work of hundreds of local, national, and international artists for over 10 years.
Theatre: Joe’s theatre training background includes training residencies with Gardzienice Theatre of Poland, Double Edge Theatre of Massachusetts, performance artist Holly Hughes, Leonardo Shapiro of NYC’s Shaliko Company, Daniel Stein of Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre, and work sessions with Anne Bogart and SITI Co. & Lee Worley of the Open Theatre. As a lead actor in the Tricklock ensemble Joe has played the roles of Gogo in Waiting for Godot, Billy the Kid in Michael McClure’s The Beard produced in collaboration with the author (Winner: Artistic Pick/Best of the Festival, Seattle Fringe Festival 2000), Kostya in The Seagull directed by the late Leonardo Shapiro, the title role in Mac Wellman’s Dracula produced in collaboration with the author, & the title role in Ionesco’s Macbett, among many others.
He has served as assistant director and dramaturge to Moises Kaufman in 2003 with his original performance creation Carmen for Working Classroom, and has worked with numerous playwrights directing staged readings of their work including Michael McClure’s The Red Snake and Elana Greenfield’s Nine Come & Possessed by a Demon.. Joe conceived, directed, and is the lead writer of The Glorious & Bloodthirsty Billy the Kid for Tricklock, which has completed its second international tour including dates in Krakow, Belgrade, Cologne, Edinburgh, Chicago, and Los Angeles where it was hailed as Critic’s Choice in the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, and Backstage West.
Film & Television: Joe divides his time between his creative home with Tricklock in Albuquerque & Los Angeles where he works as an actor and producer in film. Recent credits include the lead in Smack (Official Selection LA’s Dances With Films Festival, Best Independent Feature Nominee, MethodFest LA), the lead in A Couple of Days & Nights (Official Selection Hollywood Film Festival 2005), the maniacal Tobey in Mojave, produced by Mark Borman & David Allen. Other credits include roles on ABC’s hit series Wild Fire, the Spielberg/TNT mini-series Into The West, and The New Prince Valiant animated pilot for Hearst Entertainment. Joe was a writer and lead actor in the PBS/CBS sketch comedy show Fences for two seasons, which garnered the Gold Medal and Grand Awards at the New York Festivals of Film and Television and was nominated twice for regional Emmy awards. Joe is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Honors: Joe was honored by the New Mexico Business Weekly in 2005 as one of the State’s Top Forty Under 40 up-and-coming professionals, has been appointed by Mayor Martin Chavez to the Albuquerque Film Advisory Board and the Mayor’s 2005 transition team to advise the City of Albuquerque’s Department of Cultural Affairs.
